The incident took place around 7 AM while the staff were on duty.

The injured have been identified as Malabika Pal and Belchi Narzary. One of them sustained an injury to her hand.

According to sources, railway staff had informed authorities about the damaged ceiling several months ago. However, no repair work was taken up, raising concerns about negligence.

“There were repeated complaints, but no one paid attention. This could have been worse,” said a railway employee at the station.

However, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has dismissed reports of any injuries. In an official statement, the NFR Public Relations Officer said, “Misleading news is being spread by a number of news channels regarding a minor incident at the Guwahati Railway Station where a small part of the false ceiling at the ticket counter had broken off. Nobody has been injured or hurt. The false ceiling has immediately been repaired. There is no cause for concern.”
