CBI to question Kolkata Police Chief and ex-TMC MP again today

GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar again on Tuesday, February 12 after questioning him on Monday along with former Trinamool Congress MP, Kunal Ghosh in connection to the Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams. 

Monday, February 11 was the third consecutive day that the commissioner was questioned by the CBI and the second day for Ghosh who was jointly questioned with Kumar. 

The ex-TMP MP was arrested in November 2013 and then granted interim bail by the Calcutta High Court in 2016. He will be going back to Kolkata today. 

While Kumar was interrogated by the CBI for eight hours on Saturday, February 9 on charges of withholding and tampering with important documents. He had arrived in Shillong on Friday, February 8 after the Supreme Court directed him to join the CBI probe at a “neutral place.” 

Kumar was accompanied by three senior state police officers, Additional Police Commissioner Javed Shamim, Special Task Force Chief Murlidhar Sharma and CID Chief Praveen Kumar Tripathi.
