GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against nine accused in a forcible detention and abduction case before the Special Judge at the CBI Court in Guwahati. The case is a result of a request by the Manipur Government.
The case is about the alleged forcible detention and abduction of a female at Sawombung Gate by a mob, numbering around 100 individuals, including armed miscreants in Manipur’s Imphal East district.
The victim was reportedly taken to Keibi village in a car, and her lifeless body was later found on the same day.
The CBI took charge of the investigation concerning Crime No. 32(7)/2023, previously registered at Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East, on July 15, 2023.
The CBI's investigation has identified the nine accused individuals involved in the case. Subsequently, a charge sheet has been filed before the Special Judge at the CBI Court in Guwahati, following the directives of the Supreme Court of India.
The investigative process is ongoing, with a focus on identifying any additional individuals implicated in the case.
