GUWAHATI: A Canadian national found engaging in evangelical activities on an expired tourist visa in Assam’s Jorhat has been deported on Friday, February 7, and has now returned to Canada.

Speaking to GPlus, Jorhat SP said, “Brandon Joel Dewalt, whose visa expired on January 7, was discovered pursuing proselytisation work in Jorhat and operating a church on the Mission Campus."
“Dewalt had been addressing religious gatherings and promoting Christianity in violation of visa regulations. The case was reported to the Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) in Kolkata, which subsequently issued a deportation notice,” the official further stated.
