Chief Minister Sarma Invites Top Mumbai Industrialists To Advantage Assam 2.0

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, February 8, met leading industrialists in Mumbai to invite them to the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, to be held on February 25-26.

During his visit, Sarma held discussions with JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, highlighting Assam’s potential in infrastructure and energy sectors. He informed Jindal about the state government's efforts to strengthen the investment ecosystem, particularly through the recently approved Assam Startup and Innovation Policy. This policy has been designed to provide fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to entrepreneurs, with a target of supporting 5,000 startups and creating one lakh jobs over the next five years.

Emphasising Assam’s green energy revolution, Sarma also spoke about emerging investment opportunities in Floating Solar, Bio-CNG, Green Hydrogen, and ATJ fuel. He assured Jindal that Assam’s investor-friendly policies provide a strong foundation for sustainable business growth.

The chief minister also met BK Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, to explore collaboration in textiles, energy, water treatment, and infrastructure. Inviting Goenka to the summit, Sarma stressed Assam's commitment to creating a favourable business environment for the Welspun World Group. He emphasised that Advantage Assam 2.0 would serve as an ideal platform to transform business proposals into actionable investments.

Additionally, Sarma engaged in discussions with Essar Group Vice Chairman Ravi Ruia about potential partnerships in manufacturing electric trucks in Assam and developing renewable energy projects. He extended an invitation to Ruia for the summit.

This visit marks Sarma’s second trip to Mumbai in recent times, as part of his efforts to boost participation in the summit.
