GUWAHATI: Amidst protest across the state, the Citizenship Amendment Bill will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on December 11.

The contentious bill was cleared by the Lower House at midnight of December 10 with 311 votes in favour of the proposed legislation.

Meanwhile, massive protests continue to cripple life in Assam with reports of strikes, effigies of politician burnt and multiple rallies are being organised to oppose the Bill.

It is to be mentioned that large numbers of students, common citizens, civil society, political groups, artists have hit the streets of Guwahati ever since the Bill was cleared by the Union Cabinet and later by the Lok Sabha.

The bill relaxes the requirement of residence in India from 11 years to six years for these migrants.
