One Hemant Chaucharia was shot dead today at Kailash Nagar area at Hatigaon in Guwahati. The victim is a businessman based in Hatigaon and owns a grocery shop. He was shot this evening while he was on his way to the shop.
Sources revealed that he was carrying money in a bag and also in his pocket. According to unconfirmed reports, the assailants tried to snatch the money from the victim but were unable to do so.
Police sources revealed that the bullet pierced his head and it is likely that he was spot dead. Added to that, a 9mm shell casing was recovered from the spot.
