Buses In Guwahati Can Stop Only For A Minute, Says Police

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a statement citing that city buses will not be allowed to stop at a bus stand for more than a minute, to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles on the road during these Durga Puja days.

Addressing a press conference, Traffic Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCP) Jayanta Sarathi Borah said that the bus drivers will be under surveillance by the traffic police and will be allowed to stop at a bus stand only for one minute.

He also claimed that if the drivers do not comply with these rules, the bus drivers will be issued an RC book chalan, and they will have to pay the fine on the spot.

Speaking to GPlus, the traffic DCP said, "When an e-chalan is imposed, the message goes to the bus owners, however through this procedure, we want to keep the drivers in check."

Multiple rules and regulations have been put in place for the smooth flow of the city and traffic functioning during Durga Puja and residents are expected to adhere to them.
