Burmese Supari Seized In Hailakandi, Culprits Evade Arrest

GUWAHATI: In two separate operations, huge quantities of Burmese Supari were seized by the police in Hailkandi on October 18. 

In the first operation conducted by the Officer-in-Charge of Lala Police Station and the police staff, a search was made, which led them to the residence of Md. Jalal Uddin Barbhuya, located in Chandrapur (Part 2). 

 

During the operation authorities uncovered and subsequently seized 16 sacks, collectively carrying an estimated 960 kilograms of Burmese supari. Additionally, two auto-rickshaws were discovered within the premises of the accused. However, the accused managed to evade arrest and remains at large.

In a parallel operation, the In-Charge of Bandukmara Outpost, operating under the jurisdiction of Hailakandi Police Station, in a search operation yesterday, authorities managed to locate and seize 22 sacks of Burmese Supari, weighing approximately 1320 kilograms. The operation took place at the residence of one, Riyajul Hoque Laskar in Sudarshapur (Part 1).

According to reports, this contraband was discovered within the confines of a cowshed on the accused person's property. The accused person fled his residence, avoiding arrest.

Hailakandi Police took to X to put out,” On the basis of source information today, a search was conducted by the O/C, Lala PS, and staff in the house of Md. Jalal Uddin Barbhuya of Chandrapur Part 2, PS Lala and recovered and seized 16 sacks filled with approx. 960 kg Burmese supari and 2 auto rickshaws from the house premises of accused person Jalal Uddin Barbhuya. However, the accused person managed to escape.

On the basis of source information today on 18/10/23, the I/C, Bandukmara OP, Hailakandi PS, conducted search in the house of accused person Riyajul Hoque Laskar of Sudarshapur Part 1 and recovered and seized 22 sacks filled with approx. 1320 kg Burmese supari from the cow shed of the house of the accused person. However, the accused person fled away from his house.”

The search for the culprits are underway as we await further details.
