British National who Died in Jorhat, Cremated

GUWAHATI: A British tourist who died on board a luxury cruise liner Charaidew II at Nimatighat in Jorhat on January 31 was cremated at Tarajan cremation ground.

Earlier, the family members of the deceased had requested the British High Commission to cremate the body at the place he (Macdonald) died and then send back the ashes home.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati, said that the British High Commission has hired Indian Funeral Service to conduct the cremation of the tourist and collect the ashes to be sent to UK for handing over the same to his family members.

The deceased was travelling in a group of 24 people from UK and the ship began its voyage from Guwahati on January 19.
