Braveheart Basumatary who foiled Noonmati bank robbery succumbs to his injuries

GUWAHATI: In a sad development, braveheart Lakshmikanta Basumatary of Cooperative City Bank, Noonmati who foiled the robbery attempt by the accused Bidyut Mech has succumbed to his injuries.

Basumatary who was in charge of the bank’s security was seriously injured while trying to nab the armed robber Mech and was undergoing treatment in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
 
Lakshmikanta had managed to overpower the robber but in the tussle, the criminal managed to snatch the security person’s rifle and rammed him in the chest. Mech was later caught by the police and locals.

The dacoity incident happened on 8th of June when the accused Mech tried looting the Cooperative City Bank, Noonmati with a fake gun and a dagger.
