Bornali Gogoi Becomes First Assamese Woman to be Wing Commander of IAF

GUWAHATI: Indeed a proud moment for Assam. A daughter of the state has been promoted as the wing commander of the Indian Air Force (IAF). 


Bornali Gogoi from Lakhimpur, who has been gathering laurels ever since her academic life has added another feather to her hat.


She has become the first woman wing commander of IAF from Assam. The 1996 pilot officer got promoted from being the Flying Lieutenant to a Wing Commander. 


She earned the 16th position in the 1985 batch HSLC examination and joined Cotton College. A gold medalist in engineering in electronics and telecommunication from Assam Engineering College, she completed her masters in engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science. 


Bornali Gogoi is the daughter of Late Premdhar Gogoi and Anjali Gogoi of Lakhimpur, Assam.
