BJP Trying to Make Farmers Servant: Farm Bill Protesters in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Various organisations in Guwahati have protested the recently passed farm bills by the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the Parliament.

The All India Kisan Sabha and the All Assam Students Union (AASU) also demonstrated a protest against the disputed bill.

The Centre introduced three farm bills — The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.

G Plus spoke to Simanta Thakuria of AASU who highlighted the bill as a ploy to help multi-national companies (MNCs).

"The farmers don't get value and this bill will help the MNCs to extend their monopoly," he said.

Similarly, the members of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) said, "The BJP has corporate greed as such they have formulated the law. The farming sector has also been given to the corporates and there are even attempts to remove the Minimum Support Price (MSP)".
