Talking to GPlus, an official from the BJP  said, "Last year, he contested independently, and this year he joined BJP hoping to get a ticket. But when he realized he was not getting one, he resigned from the party. He is a politician, so it is likely he will join another party wherever he gets a ticket."

Following his resignation, Borah submitted a formal letter to state BJP chief Bhabesh Kalita, in which he expressed his thoughts and reasons for leaving the party. In his resignation letter, Bora stated, "After much reflection and deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that I must step away from my association with the party to explore other avenues where I believe I can make a more meaningful contribution aligned with my personal beliefs and goals."

This statement has only fuelled the growing speculation that Borah may be in talks with Congress, which could be his next political platform. Sources close to the situation suggest that Bora is already considering his options as the by-elections draw near.

Borah's resignation comes amid growing dissatisfaction within the ranks of the BJP, especially after a dramatic protest by BJP youth leaders in Biswanath. In an unusual demonstration, several youth leaders shaved their heads to draw the attention of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, demanding more attention to grassroots leaders and more transparent ticket distribution.
