Biker Gang In Assam Kills 70-Year-Old Woman; Police Yet To Nab Culprits Despite Identification

GUWAHATI: On December 11, a video was posted on social media, where a motorcycle club in Assam going by the name ‘Gang of Devil’ were announcing how one of them had ‘killed a 70-year-old woman' in a road accident in Bilasipara, Dhubri. 

The member claimed that the accused walked out of jail within 10 minutes of his arrest.

The members of the ‘Gang of Devil’ could be seen proudly celebrating the outcome of the mishap. One of the members confessed that they hit an old woman on the road and killed her. 

"One of our brothers today killed a woman in an accident and he came out of the police lock-up in just 10 minutes. This is the power of the Gang of Devil. We are partying now," one of the members of the motorcycle club can be heard saying in the video.

The victim has been identified as Sakina Beowa, a 70-year-old woman, who suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the Bilasipara Civil hospital for treatment. The accident occurred at around 3:30 PM on December 10. She breathed her last at around 8 PM, December 10, 2022.

The Superintendent of Police, Dhubri (SP) while talking to the media said, “A case has been registered and an investigation is going on. We are in search of the people who were responsible. The accident that took place on Saturday was unfortunate. It happened at around 3:30 PM. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died during treatment. We have picked up quite a few people for questioning. I can't say exactly how many but we have picked up a few people who have relation to the members of 'Gang of Devil'.”

The alleged members of the club, Minhajul Karim, Rohan and Akhir Khan are thought to be the ones responsible for the accident. The members who are the residents of Nayahat, Bilasipara have had allegations of a similar nature in the past against them. 

The Kamatapur Autonomous Council (KAC) has set a 24-hour deadline for Dhubri and Bilasipara Police to arrest the ‘Gang of Devil’ group and has demanded the Assam Chief Minister's stern intervention against the police if the group is not arrested within 24 hours.

The video shared by the biker group in the meantime has gone viral on social media with netizens demanding the arrest of the people responsible for the accident.
