“A timeless tribute to Karbi legacy and leadership,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who had done the unveiling, posted on social media platform X.

The statues have been erected to commemorate the legendary couple, who, bound by wisdom and compassion, ruled Karbi Anglong as a unified force. Known for their social reforms, King Bonghom Ronghang and Queen Kareng Teronpi earned the title Reng Bonghom, a reflection of their combined influence and vision for the region.

In addition to the unveiling, Sarma dedicated several key development projects aimed at boosting the region's infrastructure and economic growth. Among the announcements were measures to support Anganwadi workers, including a one-time assistance and a salary hike starting from October 1.

The chief minister also highlighted ongoing projects such as the construction of a 1.4 km four-lane flyover from Diphu Stadium to the Diphu Post Office, aimed at easing traffic congestion.
