GUWAHATI: The Sribhumi Police on Wednesday, April 16 detained 5 Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to illegally enter into Assam through the border. They were identified as Abdulla, Ansarulla, Roshid Ahammed, Md. Kalim Mulla and Happy Seikh, and deported.

Speaking to Gplus, a senior officer from Sribhumi Police Station said, “We received information regarding some illegal infiltration through the border areas at around 7:30 pm yesterday. We immediately took action and interrogated the individuals. They had Bangladeshi documents with them. They revealed that they had crossed the border and had plans to settle in Assam.."
The Assam government is constantly on a crackdown on illegal immigration. Earlier too similar incidents were reported and several Bangladeshi nationals were deported back from the border area.
