"Bhaag Northeast Bhaag" Hoardings to be Removed from Guwahati

In an order issued by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), the administration has been directed to remove all the "Bhaag Northeast Bhaag" hoardings in the city.

The order stated that the advertisement has created an adverse impact in the minds of the people.

The release stated:

-- With reference to the subject cited above, it has come to my notice through newspaper write-ups of some renowned newspapers that the anonymous advertisement with a caption "Bhaag North East Bhaag" written in Assamese in display hoardings erected in every nook and corner of the city which has created an adverse impact in the mind of the people in general. The word “Bhaag” in Hindi means Run. But in Assamese, it does not carry the same meaning. It is just a negative and offensive call to run away or flee in Assamese dialect. In this regard, you are requested to take necessary measures to remove these hoardings from the roads of Guwahati and further not to allow such type of derogatory advertisement in the form of hoardings in greater public interest. Action taken report may be submitted to the undersigned at an early date. --

The "Bhaag Northeast Bhaag" teaser campaign is allegedly of a leading cement company.
