BCCI Suspends IPL 2020 for Coronavirus

GUWAHATI: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement said that it has decided to suspend IPL 2020 till April 15 as a precautionary measure against the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation.

It further stated, "The BCCI is concerned and senitive about all its stakeholders and public health in general and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that all people realted to IPL including IPL fans have a safe cricketing exprience."

Meanwhile, the BCCI will work closely with the Government of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other relevant Central and State Government departments in this regard.

It is to be mentioned that Guwahati was suppose to host two IPL matches. Rajasthan Royals were to play against Delhi Capital on April 5th, 2020 and against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9, 2020.

Currently India has reported 75 positive cases in the outbreak of the disease which has led to over 4,000 deaths globally.
