GUWAHATI: After a 'lateral fire' took place on Baghjan 5 well on July 22 last, injuring three foreign experts, Oil India Limited (OIL) has tweeted yesterday that the capping stack is ready and is wrapped up with ceramic blankets and ceramic clothes.

Tridiv Hazarika, the spokesperson of OIL, speaking to G Plus informed today, "We have not started the capping process yet. Experts are evaluating various aspects before the actual operation takes place."

"Although we can't comment on the actual date of starting the capping and killing operation, we are very near to that date. The capping and killing is a continuous exercise and we have to work round the clock irrespective of the number of days it takes to complete the process. That's why lots of preparations are required," he said.

He further added that the weather is also a major concern for starting the operation.

Regarding the injured officials, Hazarika informed that all three of them are well with minor burn injuries. They are currently being looked after at the OIL's guesthouse in Duliajan and may soon resume service as and when it is deemed fit.
