GUWAHATI: A gibbon which was born at the Assam State Zoo on August died on November 5.
Zoo DFO Tejas Mariswamy speaking to media said that it died in the early hours of November 5. It was just three months and three days old.
It is to be mentioned that the Assam state zoo has succeeded in breeding these difficult species among which Hoolock gibbon was breeded in the zoo premisis.
“The exact reason for the death is not yet known. Yesterday, I saw the baby and today morning we found it dead. Later, we came to know there was a fracture in the left arm forefinger of the baby gibbon,” the DFO said.
There are at present three pairs of gibbons at the Assam State zoo.
