Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Teachers To Retire At 60: HBS

GUWAHATI: Government of Assam announced on June 7, that the 29,701 TET teachers appointed under the Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) will retire at the age of 60.

The State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, during a press conference on Sunday last, said that these teachers working under the SSA will receive DA/DR Allowances like other state government teachers and will also receive increments every year.

These teachers will also be allowed casual, sick and maternity leaves like any other regular state government employee and they will also be eligible for bank loans under the SSA.

Further, the minister added that all the 11,206 State Pool Teachers and 5,243 secondary teachers’ tenure of services will be extended up to 60 years of age. 

Their salaries will be at par with the newly recruited LP/UP School Teachers and they will be eligible for leaves as per norms.

The minister took to Twitter yesterday to inform people about the same. “#AssamEduCare 11260 State Pool teachers working under SSA with fixed salary, and 5243 contractual teachers working in various high schools will draw equivalent pay, service tenure and leave enhancement at par with their counterparts in state government,” he tweeted.
