Axis Bank Deputy Branch Manager Held For Withdrawing Customer's Money In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A Deputy Branch Manager of Axis Bank in Bhetapara, Guwahati has been apprehended on Tuesday, September 6, for looting money from a customer. The employee Istison Haque Choudhury is a resident of Mangaldoi and was an ex-employee of HDFC Bank, Zoo Road Tiniali.

Speaking to G Plus, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Geetanagar Police Station said that Istison allegedly missused an ATM card of a customer from HDFC Bank Zoo Road Tiniali, and withdrew cash around Rs 1.75 lakh. The customer Jyoti Krishna Das, on June 27 registered a complaint at the Geetanagar Police Station, stating about the amount that was withdrawn from his account.

The Geetanagar Police initiated the investigation. Based on CCTV footage, and mobile phone location, the Police apprehended Istison from her rented house at Nayanpur. The Police also seized several ATM cards, passbooks and cheque books that belong to different customers of both the HDFC bank and Axis Bank from her possession. Istison later confessed to her crime.

Istison (27) is currently in the custody of Geetanagar Police. The investigation and interrogation is ongoing. Further details are awaited.
