GUWAHATI: The student wing of BJP, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took out a rally in support of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) on December 7.
The protesters were heard chanting slogans like ‘Long live ABVP', ‘We support CAB’.
Earlier, on December 7 Singer Zubeen Garg and his wife Garima Garg joined the students of the Cotton University (CU) in opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Guwahati on December 06.
The students of the university have decided to ban the entry of members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh supporting the Bill into the campus.
Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has also joined the students in the protests against the controversial bill.
The Bill got Union Cabinet’s nod on December 04 and will be tabled in the Lok Sabha on December 09.
