GUWAHATI: Renowned litterateur and Sahitya Akademi awardee Purabi Bormudoi breathed her last after a prolonged illness on July 15.
The Assamese novelist and short story writer was born in Tezpur’s Deori village on May 8, 1950.

Bormudoi, a former professor at Dibrugarh University, was conferred with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi in 2007 for her novel Santanukulanandan. She was also conferred with Prabina Saikia Award in 2006 and Assam Valley Literary Award in 2007.
The author’s last rites will be performed at the Navagraha Crematorium today, July 15.
