GUWAHATI: The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) is set to launch a campaign with a view to counter fake and unverified content about different tourist destinations in Assam to help tourists get accurate information about a destination.

“In order to have citizens’ participation in our efforts as well as to provide accurate information about the prominent as well as lesser known tourist destinations, we are organising three categories of tourism-based competitions. The best contributors will be rewarded on the occasion World Tourism Day on September 27. The videos, photographs and matters coming to us through these contests will also be used to enrich our digital archive,” ATDC Chairperson Jayanta Malla Baruah told media persons.

He added that the ATDC will make it a point to make sure that correct and verified information is available on different platforms including social media websites and Youtube.

“It is seen that some false and fictitious videos and information about Kamakhya Temple or some other destinations pop up while searching for these sites. In the coming days this won’t happen,” he further mentioned.
