Asymptomatic Senior Citizens, Women Travelling Alone Exempted from Institutional Quarantine

GUWAHATI: According to a press release issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare of Assam, any woman who has travelled alone to Assam by train or flight need not undergo institutional quarantine, provided she is asymptomatic. 

However, the woman will need to undergo 14 days of home quarantine after complying with health protocols such as collection of swab samples for COVID-19 test, hand stamping, conversion of residence into a containment zone, etc.

The order further stated that any senior citizen above the age of 60, who has travelled to Assam by air, need not undergo institutional quarantine provided the person is asymptomatic following the same health protocols as in case of women travelling alone.

It may be noted that the exemption from institutional quarantine in case of senior citizens is not applicable for travel by bus or train and both the exemptions from institutional quarantine will not be applicable if the bus, train or flight in which the person has travelled is found to have a high incidence of COVID-19 positive cases or has been contaminated in some way.
