GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced that the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) will provide 4 Bigha land to the Railways for the establishment of a second entrance to the Guwahati Railway Station.
This move aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Paltan Bazar and offer commuters alternative routes to the railway station.
Additionally, plans are underway to transform the Guwahati Railway Station into a modern facility through a ₹700 crore project, in collaboration with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The press conference also revealed plans for the construction of a second Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Jalukbari, using 20 Bigha land allocated to ASTC by the Railways.
These developments signify a mutual understanding between ASTC and the Railways to enhance transportation infrastructure in Guwahati.
