GUWAHATI: Acknowledging the efforts of municipalities across Assam, North Lakhimpur Municipal Board secured the 1st position in Amrit Sarovar Mahotsav, followed by Rangia Municipal Board at 2nd, and Abhayapuri Municipal Board at 3rd.
These municipalities have played a crucial role in revitalising water bodies. The Amrit Sarovar Mahotsav, held from August 13 to 15, 2022, showcased commendable efforts in restoring and preserving vital water resources.
The cash prizes awarded were ₹5,00,000.00 to North Lakhimpur MB for Radha Pukhuri, ₹3,00,000.00 to Rangia MB for water body near Naakhruj Puthibharal, and ₹2,00,000.00 to Abhayapuri MB for Rajbari Pukhuri.
The initiative promotes a Jan Andolan (People's Movement) to restore and preserve water bodies, thereby restoring them to their former glory.
