Assam’s Morigaon District To Benefit From ₹292 Crore Development Projects

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet sanctioned ₹292 crore for various developmental projects across Morigaon district, on Thursday, January 16. Among the key projects approved, ₹70 crore has been allocated for the construction of a road connecting Balimukh to Sildubi via Bhuragaon.

A drainage system for Morigaon Town has also received ₹55 crore for its implementation, addressing a long-standing issue in the area.

Additionally, ₹15 crore will go towards building a new Circuit House in Morigaon, while ₹5 crore has been set aside for constructing a stage in the Junbeel Mela area. The completion of a pavilion and other facilities at Khirod Barua Stadium will be supported with ₹5 crore.

A ₹5 crore fund has been designated for the fitting of a memorial dedicated to Ilaram Das Baap in Jaluguti, while another ₹20 crore will be used for constructing an auditorium in his name in Morigaon. Other notable projects include the construction of a guest house at Mikirbhata, valued at ₹1 crore, and the development of a Tiwa Sahitya Sabha Bhawan, also costing ₹1 crore.

The Cabinet has also approved ₹3 crore for the Kapahera Stadium and allocated ₹8 crore each for the development of nine schools over 100 years old, along with ₹5 crore for the advancement of eight prominent colleges in the district.

Meanwhile, plans are in place to set up a new Industrial Estate spanning 1000 bighas for economic growth in the district.
