Assam’s Maan Dhaniya Maasor Tenga Impresses Master Chef India’s Judges

 

GUWAHATI: Master Chef India’s contestant Santa Sarmah surprised the judges, Ranveer Brar, Garima Arora and Vikas Khanna by preparing one of the favourite local delicacies, 'Maan Dhaniya Masor Tenga’ prepared with a specific ingredient which is only available in the northeast, ‘maan dhaniya’ or Thai coriander.

Impressed with the dish, the judges became quite fond of the dish prepared by the contestant of Assam representing the local taste and culture.

One of the judges and renowned chefs Ranveer Brar recollected his memories of his visit to northeast India and expressed how he had never tasted maan dhaniya before.

The maan dhaniya was brought to the competition as a core ingredient by Santa Sarmah’s husband, as part of one of the rounds of the competition where they were allowed to meet their family members.

Santa Sarmah after meeting her husband said, “It was an overwhelming day for me. I was emotional because I was not able to contact my family and so when I saw my husband walk towards me, I felt ecstatic. My husband says that our village got electricity to watch me on MasterChef India, I want to tell everyone back home, thank you for your support. I hope you keep supporting my journey!”

Santa Sarmah is one of the 16 contestants selected in Master Chef India Season 7 which premiered on January 2. Master Chef India Season 7 airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
