GUWAHATI: Assam’s first Science City is all set to be established in Guwahati in 2025 aiming to promote scientific awareness among students and the general public.

Presenting the state budget for 2025-26, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said that 10 Astronomy Labs will also be established in rural Assam, providing students with telescopes and virtual reality tools to explore space. The Khagol Doot programme will further nurture young science enthusiasts and encourage leadership in the field.
In a move to tackle climate change, a ₹25 crore Climate Centre will be set up with solar power, rainwater harvesting, and waste recycling facilities, featuring interactive displays to educate citizens on sustainability. Meanwhile, the Assam State Space Application Centre (ASSAC) will expand its use of satellite data for agriculture, flood control, and urban planning, the minister said.
A total of ₹90 crore has been allocated for the above projects.
