Assam’s Famed Kaziranga National Park Reopens For Tourists

 

GUWAHATI: Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, officially reopened for the 2024-25 tourist season on Tuesday, October 1. The reopening ceremony was held at the park's Western Range in Bagori, marking the start of a new season for one of the world’s most iconic wildlife destinations.

Kaziranga, known for its diverse ecosystem and the famous one-horned rhinoceros, closes annually around May due to the monsoon season. The park is a prime destination for wildlife enthusiasts, nature photographers, and tourists from around the world.

Assam’s Minister for Environment and Forests Chandra Mohan Patowary took to social media platform X to announce the reopening, stating “Honoured to officially reopen the world-renowned Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve for the new tourism season today at a programme in the Western Range, Bagori.”

The event was attended by several key officials, including Assam's cabinet ministers Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, and Kaziranga MP Kamakhya Tasa. 

Kaziranga National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring species like the famous one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, elephants, and a variety of bird species. The park is a global destination for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and wildlife lovers.
