GUWAHATI: A youth in Bijni, in the Chirang district of Assam, went missing in the Padladiya River on Thursday.
As per media reports, the missing youth, Baten Ali, had gone fishing at Sluice Gate when he was swept away by the strong river currents.
As per reports, the youth was a resident of the Dawaguri area in Bijni.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The SDRF team is still searching for the missing youth.

It may be mentioned here that in the wake of the rising water levels in the various rivers of the state, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued several warnings and advisories, urging people not to venture out to the rivers for fishing.
