Assam Unregulated Trading Scam Accused Sumi Borah Granted Bail But Remains In Custody

 

GUWAHATI: Sumi Borah, accused in an unregulated trading scam, was granted bail by the Gauhati High Court on Thursday, December 19 in connection with case number 352/24, registered at the Dibrugarh police station, according to reports.

However, Borah will not be released from custody as she remains implicated in two other cases related to the scam, currently under investigation at Barbarooah and Duliajan police stations.

Speaking to Gplus, S.Munir, lawyer of Sumi Borah said, " Sumi Borah has been granted bail in a case registered at Dibrugarh police station. However, she will remain in custody as hearing of two other cases in Barbarooah and Duliajan is pending. The next hearing for case registered in Barbarooah is scheduled on January 10, 2025, and for Duliajan, it is scheduled on January 27, 2025."
