Assam: Two new bridges to be constructed over Brahmaputra

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that two new bridges will be constructed over the river Brahmaputra. The announcement was made after a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highway minister Nitin Gadkari.

One of the new bridges will connect Sivasagar-Desangmukh-Tekeliphuta-Dhakuakhana, while the other will link North Lakhimpur- Majuli and Jorhat.

The construction of the bridges will be carried out under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North-eastern states.

Preliminary work has been completed and construction work is set to begin soon, said Gadkari.
