Assam To Receive ₹50,000 Crore Investment From Vedanta In Oil & Gas Sector

GUWAHATI: Assam is set to receive an investment of ₹50,000 crore from Vedanta Group in its oil and gas sector over the next three to four years. The development was shared by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a meeting held with representatives of the company to discuss implementation plans and finalise timelines for the proposed investment.

“There is no better start to Bohag than ensuring that commitments made in the previous year are fulfilled,” Sarma posted on X on Monday, April 14. “And it’s so gratifying. At #AdvantageAssam2 we received investment commitments of ₹5.19 lakh crore, of which the Vedanta Group has set a target of investing ₹50,000 cr in the State.”

Earlier at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit held in February, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal had outlined the company’s intention to invest in Assam and Tripura’s development. He noted that Assam received investment commitments totalling ₹5.19 lakh crore at the summit, with Vedanta’s proposal being one of the largest.

Meanwhile, Sarma added that the state government is prioritising early execution of major investment proposals within the current fiscal year.
