Assam To Celebrate 'Bhasa Gaurob Saptah' From Nov 3 To 9

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced a week-long celebration, 'Bhasa Gaurob Saptah,' from November 3 to 9, 2024, to commemorate the historic recognition of Assamese as a classical language. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news on the social media platform 'X' on Sunday, highlighting that the event aims to celebrate Assamese cultural heritage and linguistic pride.

In his post, CM Sarma wrote, "On 3rd October 2024, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, officially recognized Assamese as a Classical Language. To mark this historic occasion, Assam will observe 'Bhasa Gaurob Saptah' from 3rd to 9th November 2024."

The Chief Minister further added, "During this week, events will be held to pay tribute to the work of Assamese writers and scholars, who have shaped the language since the 4th century AD. The people of Assam will also express their gratitude to Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji for this significant recognition of the state's cultural and linguistic heritage."
