Assam chief minister told the media, “Due to the upcoming matriculation and higher secondary exams, it is not feasible to hold the panchayat elections at this time. The environment is not conducive for such an election. It is anticipated that the elections will take place either before or after Bohag Bihu.”

The announcement comes following a ruling from the Gauhati High Court, which allowed the election process to move forward despite legal challenges related to the delimitation of Gaon Panchayats.
