GUWAHATI: A 14-year old Youtube sensation from Assam, Sania Aktara, along with four others died in a tragic car accident in Darrang district on Sunday, October 31. The other deceased have been identified as Manjuwar Begum (Sania's mother), and fellow YouTubers Faridul Islam, Ebrahim Ali, and Azad Ali.
A group of 8 people were travelling to Rowta to shoot a video for Sania’s Youtube channel. The incident occurred when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a goods carrying truck on the return journey at the Bechimari area of Darrang. Three of the eight people travelling in the car had sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) immediately.
Sania was the breadwinner for her family after the death of her father Sofiqul Islam in March 2019. Her main source of income was from the videos she made on Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube. "She had a lot of dreams and today all of them have ended," a family member said.
After the death of Sania and her mother, the locals have raised concerns regarding the future of the two young sisters Sania left behind. "I am her Mama (uncle), and I am really devastated as she was very talented. She was also the main source of income in the family. I request the Assam government to provide us with financial assistance for the future of these two girls (Sania’s sisters)," a relative said.
