GUWAHATI: A Sub Inspector (SI) of R K Nagar Police Station in Karimganj, Assam was suspended on November 30 for making inappropriate telephonic conversations with a minor girl, who was a victim of sexual assault.
The SI was identified as Dhirendra Nath.
Speaking to G Plus the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Karimganj said, "A 16-year-old minor girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in October. The accused in the case was arrested three days after the incident took place. The Sub-inspector later started to call the girl and have vulgar conversations. The family members approached the police station and lodged an FIR three days ago. Based on this, we have arrested him and issued an order of suspension."
The SI has been presented to the court. Further details are awaited.
