Assam: Special Investigation Team Formed To Probe APSC Recruitment Scam

GUWAHATI: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to delve into the alleged Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam following direct orders from Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma as per reports.

The SIT, led by an Indian Police Service (IPS) level official, was constituted by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, GP Singh, in accordance with the directives from Chief Minister Sarma. Advocate Nalin Kohli brought this development to the attention of the Gauhati High Court. The court has directed the newly formed SIT to submit its comprehensive report within a period of six months.

Furthermore, it has been reported that APS officer Surjeet Singh Panesar is unlikely to be included in the probing committee, according to official sources. The exclusion of Panesar is viewed as a measure to maintain the integrity and impartiality of the investigation.
