Assam Shines At National Lawn Bowl Championship

GUWAHATI: Assam emerged as a strong contender in the 9th Senior and 5th Under-25 National Lawn Bowl Championship held at Delhi Public School, RK Puram, Delhi, from December 26, 2024 to January 2, 2025. The state’s players were able to secure two gold medals and a bronze.

In the Women’s Singles category, Nayan Moni Saikia clinched the gold medal, reaffirming her status as one of the top players in the country.

The Men’s Triples team, comprising Putul Sonowal, Bitupan Rabha, and Jayanta Sarmah, also brought glory to Assam by securing the gold medal in their category. Their teamwork and strategy were instrumental in their success.  

Meanwhile, in the Men’s Pairs category, the duo of Biman Nath and Biswajit Khound secured a bronze medal, adding to Assam’s medal tally.  

The Women’s Fours team, consisting of Jeena Baruah, Trishna Gogoi, Pompi Boruah, and Karina Patowary, put up a strong fight but exited in the quarter-finals.

As the championship continues, Assam’s medal haul stands as a source of pride and inspiration for aspiring players in the state.
