GUWAHATI: Assam showcased an impressive performance at the 9th Senior and 5th U-25 National Lawn Bowl Championship, held at DPS, RK Puram, Delhi, from December 26 to January 2, 2025. The state’s contingent delivered an exceptional performance, clinching multiple medals across various categories, with Putul Sonowal emerging as the standout player of the tournament.

Sonowal secured a gold medal in the men’s singles category. His consistent performance throughout the championship earned him the prestigious title of Best Men’s Player. The men’s fours team, comprising Amal Teron, Biman Nath, Jayanta Sarmah, and Biswajeet Khound, brought home a bronze medal, while the women’s pairs duo, Jeena Baruah and Pompi Baruah, added to Assam’s tally with a silver medal.
The overall medal haul for Assam stood at 4 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes. Assam was also adjudged the best team in the U-25 men’s category and finished as runners-up in the senior men’s division.
The championship, which witnessed participation from some of the country’s best players, highlighted Assam’s potential to excel at the national and international levels.
