Minister of Railways, Rajen Gohain has announced to offer a job under Railways Sports Quota to Hima Das, after her brilliant performance in the Commonwealth Games 2018.
18 year old Hima Das from India was ranked 6th in the 400 metres finals, clocking her personal best of 51.32 seconds.
Hima, who belongs from a rural background, had no idea about Commonwealth Games until two years back. Hima is the youngest of five siblings of Jonali and Ronjit Das. Athletics had never been seriously considered in her family. She grew up running and playing football on muddy fields of her village.
