Assam Rifles Supplies LPG Cylinders To Victims Of Violence-Hit Manipur

 

GUWAHATI: In the wake of recent violence engulfing Manipur, the Assam Rifles has stepped forward to assist the civil administration in ensuring the supply of essential commodities, particularly supplying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.

Amidst a significant disruption in the distribution of essential goods, the Assam Rifles has played a crucial role in facilitating the collection and delivery of much-needed supplies, stated media reports.

According to media reports, Assam Rifles successfully coordinated the collection of 1,836 LPG cylinders from the Sekmai Bottling Plant located in Imphal West District.

Subsequently, the Assam Rifles delivered these cylinders to the Indane Gas Agency distributor situated in the Churachandpur district, ensuring the availability of essential cooking gas to the affected populace.

On May 3, violence broke out in Manipur after people held a protest in Manipur’s ten hill district against the Meitei community's call for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

During the violence that broke out in the state, about 23,000 people had to move, and several people died.
