Assam Rifles Personnel Shot At In Manipur

GUWAHATI: Unidentified gunmen fired at the army personnel in Dolaithabi, in the East Imphal district of Manipur on Wednesday.

The incident reportedly took place at 11 AM in the morning when a few miscreants arrived at the above location and fired a couple of bullet rounds.

Post firing the miscreants fled the scene leaving one Assam Rifles personnel injured.

The personnel was then transferred to the Army Hospital by a chopper where upon arrival he was treated for his wounds.

Reports state that the wounded personnel has been kept under medical care.

Recently, alleged reports also came to light where villagers in the general area of Pukhao Terapur said that Kuki militants under the SoO (Suspension Of Operations) had taken over a deserted IRB post located at the small hilltop and also that they were allegedly given protection by the security forces (Assam Rifles) in the area.

Villagers also claimed to show drone footage that showed Kuki militants occupying the IRB post and a few other sites.

As per media reports, the entirety of this development was refuted by the government providing clarifications the first of which said that the circulation of 'unverified' reports could fan further violence in the state.

The second clarification came from the newly appointed Advisor (Security) as media reports stated that the allegations of central forces' involvement in supplying essential commodities to armed militants are baseless.

Further reports on this are awaited.
