GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, February 13, stated that 305 infiltrators have been pushed back from the state in the past seven months as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal immigration.

“305 'Push Backs' in the last 7 months alone,” Sarma posted on X. “Committed to an infiltration free Assam!”
A large portion of those expelled were Bangladeshi nationals. Sarma had earlier noted that Assam and Tripura together report 20 to 30 infiltration cases daily, with security forces actively preventing illegal crossings.
The crackdown continues, as on Friday, February 14, Assam’s Sribhumi police intercepted five illegal infiltrators—four Rohingyas and one Bangladeshi—attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border. The individuals were swiftly identified and pushed back following necessary procedures.
Authorities have since intensified border surveillance, reinforcing their commitment to national security. Officials have also warned that all unauthorised entry attempts will be met with strict action.
