GUWAHATI: A pregnant woman was carried to the hospital in a horse cart in Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s home constituency, Majuli.
The woman has been identified as Madhusmita Mili Pegu, who was carried on horse cart for 8 kilometres and then on a boat to reach the hospital.
Based on reports, a resident in the area mentioned that in 2017, CM Sonowal had announced 647 schemes to bolster development in the river island, however, such incidents depict a different tale and shows the government’s apathy towards the health sector in the state.
