Assam: Post Kota Success, Students Across the Country Appeal to Govt to be Given Similar Opportunity

GUWAHATI: Fervent pleas are pouring in from students from different parts of the country including Rajasthan (391 stranded students from Kota were brought back to Assam) for facilitating their return to their home state of Assam.

After G Plus carried out a detailed report on the return of 391 students from the coaching hub of Kota in Rajasthan, many students are now appealing for government help.

In a recorded video sent to G Plus, an Assamese girl, Kalyani who is studying in Mody University in Rajasthan said, "We only got to know about the Kota news yesterday and we also want to go back home."

Kalyani is doing her Masters from Mody University.

In the video, three girls, all of them belonging from Assam, said they are stuck in Rajasthan for the last 2 months.

Himadri Bhuyan from Udlaguri, Parishmita Saikia from Dhekiajui, and Kalyani Phukan from Guwahati made a heartfelt request stating, "We are mentally depressed here as our campus has remained closed from March 7 last. The Assam government helped the students who were stuck in Kota but unfortunately we were left out. We request the Assam government to take us back to our own state."

Earlier, a 2,000 kilometre bus journey criss-crossing five states, a chartered aircraft and high level liaisoning - all formed a part of a story of the return of 391 students from the coaching hub of Kota in Rajasthan even as tens of thousands of stranded students in various corners of the country still wait for their opportunity to return home amidst the ongoing lockdown.

Interestingly, 300 people hailing from Rajasthan who were stuck in Assam have been sent back on the same buses which had ferried the students from Kota in Rajasthan to Guwahati.
